We live in an information age, and it’s undeniable that knowledge is now accessible more than ever. It only takes stable Internet connection to search for any subject matter, and one could learn, or even master, a new field of expertise all through our screens.
Engineering students and engineers are given this kind of privilege, too.
So which websites can you search for free online courses related to engineering? Engineer Dee has listed five of them down below. Certificates for these websites normally come with a fee, but if you are after expanding your knowledge – the Internet is too big to learn everything at once – these websites are great places to start.
Khan Academy
Catering mostly to students, Khan Academy is perfect for those who study engineering. It contains lots of resources particularly in math subjects including the basic ones like algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and the advanced ones like statistics, calculus, and differential equations. Check them out here.
Coursera
By collaborating with more than 200 leading universities and companies worldwide, Coursera is a go-to platform for online learning. It focuses in courses on business, computer science, and engineering.
Udemy
Udemy offers a broad selection of courses with categories in design, development, and IT and software. Some modules require payment, but there is still a comprehensive list of courses that are for free. If you are looking to enhance your skills in coding and programming, this website has lots of courses available.
edX
A personal favorite, edX is like a modern classroom: filled with courses to learn from supported by more than 160 member universities globally. Top courses in edX include data science, business, computer science, and design.
MIT OpenCourseWare
It is safe to assume that every engineer wants to study at MIT, and now that is made possible through its dedicated online platform called MIT OpenCourseWare. Basically the university has made its educational materials from its undergraduate- and graduate-level courses online, freely and openly available to anyone, anywhere.
